Thank you for this piece, Maria. 5-6 years ago I had to leave the movement because of the pandemic, the need to seek a job, and to heal wounds in my family brought about by my own activism. The residual guilt of so doing took a long time to accept, to heal. Writing helped, and being honest with my own experience.
I used to think I should be ashamed for walking away, for not continuing the work when I could have done more; for choosing familial duty, a 'normal' job; for choosing to piece back my broken self.
I feel you. The movement is much bigger than one group and method. I’m sure that when you’re ready, you’ll find a way to integrate it with your (healthier) life. 🤍
Such a necessary practice for individuals whose needs are so difficult to understand generally!
Very deep and meaningful piece. Resonates with me on my levels, I'll be sure to share.
Thank you 🤎
